What is the best saw tooth count for cutting 3/16 S60V. The 24 tooth cuts for a while then goes dead. Should I be using 18 tooth. Have 9 knives somewhat cut out. I need to have them to HT this week to catch up with my partner Gary Wheeler. Hes at 27 knives and I'm at 15.
Where can I get beads for bead blasting?

That's just the way that steel is! S90V is even worse. Good news: S60V is no longer in production; bad news: S90V. That's one reason knives are more expensive made from these steels, cause not only is the steel expensive, but every type of cutter, bult, drill bit that comes into contact with the stuff wears out a lot faster. One reason to use S30V is that it is somewhat easier to work.

You are using good quality Bimetal blades?

Kim,
That is right. S60v is tough like nails.
Its a bitch to cut.
S90 will rock your world.
Glass bead is also avaiable at MSC and many autobody supply shops.

I've been using Mystic Metal Mover as cutting fluid for all hard to cut steels. I do find that 18 tooth blades from Starret or Lennox work best and last the longest...Take Care...Ed

I made more than my share of S60 blades and i use a Milwaukee PortaBand in a vise with a 14tpi Milwaukee blades and i got about 8 full tang hunters cut before tha blade took a crap on me.

My best advise is go slow, use lubricant and let your tool do the work. (Thats sounds dirty doesnt it?). :D

The auto parts stores up here is where I get all my blasting media. 120x glass bead is cheap, like $7 for a 50-lb bag.
