Hey Guys,
I'm making a file guide with a carbide face and have a question. I need to cut a small piece of carbide in half and I'm wondering what the best/easiest way to do this is.

thanks,
dms

I don't know how you are suppose to do it but I cut 1/8"thick by 3/8 wide in half with a dermal and cutoff wheels. It took me about 4wheels to score it all the way around and then I hit it with a hammer and it broke in half. It wasn't a perfect clean break but it was like 80% good which was good enough for me.

We used EDM machines and then big table wheels to diamond lap them flat. Or diamond blades to cut and shape the carbide faces.

Usually the tungsten carbide had a PDC diamond cutting face of it's own,

Lots of very expensive tools and machines at that plant. Wish I had access to them.

Diamond abrasive wheel.
