Cutting yourself on the 25 in the closed position?

Hey guys,
I used to own a 21 and one thing that always bugged me was how far the edge sat in the handle. When the knife was in the closed positon and I ran my finger across the back side of the handle I would sometimes receive very small(but painful) cuts.
Now I' m thinking of purchasing a 25 and was wondering whether the edge now sits further in the handle or if nothing has changed?

Hey sky walker. How long ago did you own a 21? Things might have changed as the two I have (from the last 5 years) don't have blades close to the edge of the handles. Even as I really push my fingers fingers against the handle I can get close enough to the edge. Hope this helps.

Even if the normal blade stop somehow failed, wouldn't the rear spacer block a blade from ever going that far into the handle??

Hey Skywalker,

I just compared my 25 with my 21, and the blade is still pretty close to the handle. I can reach in and pick the blade edge with a fingernail on both, and a little easier on the Sebenza 25.

While I have noticed how close the blade comes to the edge of the handles, I haven't ever cut myself (though I believe I could if I intentionally pressed my finger hard into the gap and slid it along the blade). Maybe you had an unusually tall blade on your 21? I would probably share your concerns if I ever did cut myself.

In any case, I have not had issues with my 25, even with the thicker blade and accompanying wider gap in between handle scales.

Thanks for the replies guys.

The 21 was purchased about 7 years ago, sold it this past year. Maybe the problem has been adressed by CR if you guys haven' t noticed anything. It was only a matter of about 1 millimeter too much material.

I used to cut myself not only when intentionally running my finger across the back of the handle but also just when carrying it in my pocket and fondling the knife.
As I said the cuts were very shallow but I do have somewhat soft skin I guess. That just made them extra painful.
I have owned an Umnumzaan too(bought it about 1 year after the 21) and never had that happen.

I have only ever been cut by my CRK's with the blade opened. Never even so much as a scratch with what is described here, but I have heard about it over the years.

If I try I can push my finger tip into the blade edge while my 25 is closed, but I haven't been cut accidentally.......yet.

I cut myself on my 25 when I was reaching into my pocket and was pushing it further back so I could get something out of my pocket. I haven't done it since. Think it was in my pinky finger and it was sliding down the groove and pushing back at the same time. Since sharpening it a few times I don't know if I could do it anymore. I think I just caught the edge.
