Cuyahoga Blade Lenght Law?

I have looked all over for a law on Cuyahoga's laws for knives seeing that Ohio doesn't have a specific rule and neither does my city. I am seriously concerned that I can't carry my brand new Benchmade Mini Grip and don't want to be charged with a felony for having it. I may just use the BM at home and carry my Spyderco Bug in public because nobody can say anything about that! :) I also have a SOG Flash I which is nice, but I am now questioning it's legality. Does anyone have any knowledge of Cuyahoga county's knife laws?

this is the third thread you've started about "can i carry my knife here?".

Ohio law (ORC) concerning knives has NO length law. Its intent based,(ORC concerning concealed weapons) if you have a rock in your pocket and you are stopped by the police and you state the reason for having the rock in your pocket is to use it as a weapon if attacked, its now a concealed weapon.

as was pointed out before, SOME municipalities DO have specific length laws.

If you are lucky enough to not live in one of those municipalities you can literally carry whatever you want, as long as its not carried for use as a weapon.

(or double edged, ballistic, or switch blade)

here is a link to ORC, enjoy

Ugh, I have posted 3 times I can recall in the Knife Laws forum. Once a really long time ago, and twice recently. The other one had nothing to do with "can i carry my knife here". This one is just asking where i can find any resources regarding CUYAHOGA county seeing that I couldn't find anything. I already know the ORC concerning knives and I already know about my City municipal code, both of which are nearly identical. I was asking if there are laws for knives by county because that's the only thing that's going to stop me from carrying a "larger" knife.

Ohio knife laws are pretty simple despite what some say, if you don't live in some municipality that specifically states a blade length limit, then logically it would just go by ORC. which means, as long as its not a weapon, you are good to go.

when you get stopped and the cop asks, "Do you have any weapons on you?" even if I have a knife(always do) the answer is No, because my knife isn't a weapon.

You do have the duty to inform them if you have a concealed carry permit, IF you are at that time in fact carrying your handgun if you're not then you don't.

you can make it as complicated as you want, but the way its written is pretty simple. unless you are in one of the more/less enlightened municipalities.

I've been to Cleveland, Toledo, Columbus, Mansfield, Akron, and dozens of other cities in Ohio never had a problem. not saying you will or won't, just that I haven't.

besides, the jails in Ohio are so full short of you sticking that knife in someones chest they probably won't care.

good luck, enjoy the knife.
