Hey guys. Went to Bass Pro Shop today lookin to get either a CV Peanut or a Buck 303 Cadet, and ended up coming home with CV Trapper. It's a 3207 Trapper, which I guess makes it a mini-trapper. I was never much of a fan of the Trapper pattern, but once I held it and looked at it, I was hooked. It just felt so good in my hand. It's as slim as my Wenger Standard Issue, so it's really comfortable in my pocket, and looked like a workhorse. Something about the Trapper pattern that says "Traditional". After my experience with the CV soddie, I didn't really want another, but they didn't have any mini-trappers in any other handle material. All were either tini or full sized Trappers. I asked the guy about the rust issue, and he said the chrome vanadium layer helps keep the rust away, so I'm not sure if I'm going to put a patina on it or let it get dark on it's own. Either way, I have a new knife, and for a few weeks at least, a new EDC. We'll see how this relationship works out.

Careful there! You've probably noticed me raving about that mini-trapper I got off ebay thinking it was a full size. Once I started carrying it, the darn thing took over as my EDC.

I like both the mini and full size trapper, you really get alot of blade in a small handle with the mini!Plus the trapper patern seem to fit the hand like a glove.
Enjoy your new knife!

Thanks guys. I was just trying to decide between the mini and the full size. Now I might have to get both. ;)

Been EDCing a full size Trapper for a few weeks now and love it. I've used it in the kitchen and at work. I use the spey blade and keep the clip blade razor sharp for emergencies.

I've got a Case Trapper in 6.5 bonestag True-sharp

A Case yellow handle Trapper in CV

and a Boker 'King Cutter' Trapper with carbon blades.

Congrats, ElCuchillo! Got a Mini-Trapper myself as my first slippie.

Seems to bridge the gap between the Peanut and Stockman that I will inevitably get...

Now, keep you new knife and fingers away from those pesky gators, for pete's sake.

Funny you should mention that, jackknife. After years and years of looking down on trappers, I picked up a carbon steel Boker trapper last year. I've recently been carrying it and really really enjoying using it. I found myself using the two blades exactly as you describe.

mnblade, jacknife I use my cv trapper the same way keep the clip sharp and use the spey blade.

Funny though on a stockman I use the clip and sheeps foot more and save the spey.

I started off using the clip blade, but then noticed when closed the clip had a lower profile in the grip and that made it more comfortable to hold.

Darn it, now I can't get the wobble out of THIS knife!!! I tried the tapping method, and it tightens up, but so do the blades, and when I work the blades a little, the wobble returns. Man, I can't win.

ElCuchillo, stick a very thin, like a razor blade in between the knife blades as a spacer, then do your tapping on the bolster to tighten. Pull out the spacer and you should be good to go.

Ok, I got the wobble out of my Trapper. I had to use a bigger, heavier hammer. I was getting frustrated and fed up with the fact that I couldn't stop the blades from wobbling. I tapped and tapped, and the blades got harder to open and close, but the wobble went nowhere. Well, today I used a bigger hammer, and applied a bit more force, and the wobbl;e disappeared. The blades started snapping open and shut as well. Very strange. Whatever, now I can give this knife an honest shot as an edc. Let's see how it works out.
