I married the love of my life Thanksgiving weekend of '04, and since we paid for our wedding we postponed our honeymoon until later this year.

Our honeymoon destination? Victoria Island, Canada! :D

We managed to get great airfare rates from Chicago to Seattle...round trip cost us >$400! (We booked the tickets several months ago) After we arrive we'll be ferrying to Victoria Island.

Some of the highlights of our honeymoon include staying at the Long Beach Lodge Resort in Tofina.

We will be visiting the Quw'utsun' Cultural Center (near Duncan) for a day.

We will also be taking a day long guided kayaking tour at Quadra Island. While at Quadra Island we'll be staying at The Whiskey Point Resort (my wife picked this place...she likes the name! :D)

We will of course will be spending time in Victoria, and also spend a day touring Seattle before we go. Neither one of us has been to the Pacific NW.

I'm looking forward to having the best time of my life, for the rest of my life, with the woman I love.

editted to add: Since I'm travelling internationally, I'm leery of carrying my good EDCs. Instead, I plan on packing a SAK in my checked luggage.

Congratualtions and a long happy life together! I won't presume to provide instructions. :D

But since you aren't carrying toys to Canada, how about picking up a knice knife while you're up there as a souvenir?

It's terrible, really. We are going to Chicago on Sunday but not flying out until Tuesday. So now it sounds like we're going to Gurney Mills on Monday with my in-laws. My wife has made a point that we should stop at the Bass Pro Shop (I'm sure as "encouragement")! Of course I plan to wander around and see what blades they carry. And firearms. And archery gear. Oh, the sheer misery! :(

I'll just have to have her make it up to me later! ;)

Foxhole - :footinmou Thanks for the correction!

Esav,SHS, and Foxhole - thanks! :D

If the weather is nice, the ferry ride over is a treat itself. The Seattle area offers many options including Mt. St. Hellens just a couple of hours drive south, but plan a whole day if you want to go since it really does take the better part of a day to explore it adequately. And, of course, you should go up the Space Needle and ride the monorail just to say you have.

In the itinerary! :D We unfortunately won't have a lot of time to spend in the Seattle area as most of our visit will be on Vancouver Island. We'll only be renting a car while on the island and relying on public transportation for the rest of the trip.

I'd have loved to have some time to visit some of the national parks in the area - I'm an avid earth-sciences study who can't get enough info. I'd also love to bring along my mountain bike. Perhaps another vacation back to the area will be in order in the near future...? :o

If you're a fan (and judging by your Avatar, you might be), the rock and roll museum is right down by the Space Needle.

You'll be able to rent bikes in both Seattle and Vancouver.

That's my sister-in-law. Unfortunately, MM, she just met a dude that she's crazy about and is talking about marriage. Sorry! :o

while in victoria BC try to find a street made of brick, there are some great clothing stores there, real good quality wool sweaters for you and skirts for your misses. There also was ten years ago a little restaurant, the James Bay Tea Room, was good food and not super expensive, also if you like a good beer go to spinikers (spelling?) pub it had a clientell from 19-119 real nice classy joint. hope ya have fun.

I used to be stationed in Oak Harbor, WA and I spent a lot of my free time in Victoria B.C. ;)

The "Crystal Gardens" is really cool if you like birds and reptiles and small mammals, they have some of the smallest (guiness book) monkeys, lots of exotic birds and some beautiful lizards. The place used to be an olympic sized swimming pool that got converted, is well worth a couple hours. Also there is the museum of science and history, very much worth the time to tour, and it is free or a small donation. have fun on your trip, and many more happy years together with the Mrs.

A little far for your trip this time, but if you make it up to the GWN again, you might try Calgary out and take a day trip to the Tyrrell. You can go on a tour and see the K/T boundary. :)
