Cyclone linerlock woes

I've owned two Kershaw Cyclones (1630, full size), and I've disassembled them both (for cleaning). When I put them back together, the lock engaged on the tang more than 50%, whereas before it engaged on the first 1/3rd of the tang. The blades were also very crooked in the handle, rubbing on the side to the point where it slowed the opening. In the first knife the blade also would be visibly crooked when open, the second did not have this problem. Both knives had tight lockup in all directions, and opened quickly (aside from the drag created by the rubbing blade). I'm pretty good with my hands, and careful how I take things apart... is this something I did? Or a flaw in the knife? Is there any way I can fix it?

Well, if the knife blade was centered and everything was good out of the box, and it changed after you disasembled it, then yes it would be something you did. Unless you have like mud, dirt, other things that will physically hinder the lock from engaging, there is no need to disassemble the knife. People get themselves into all kinds of problems trying to fix what isn't broken.
Loosen all the screws, and tighten the pivot down all the way with the the blade closed. Make sure the blade is centered. Start slowly tighten the handle screws one at a time, do not over tighten them. Loosen the pivot screw enough to be able to open the knife, that should fix the centering issue.

I have had that problem with knives before, including the Cyclone. Odds are pretty good there's nothing wrong with the knife...

EDIT: Nevermind my suggestion, go with RevDevil's post. He explained it much better than I did.
