Hey guys. I replaced the torsion and actuator bars in my Nov 06 BOD Cyclone a while back with the updated ones from Kershaw. Everything works great and the knife has some awesome snap when opening, but I cant get the assist on/off knob to work. If I take the knife apart and put it back together with the knob in the "off" position, it stays off...and if I put it together with the knob in the "on" postion, it stays on.

Try as I might, I cant get the frappin' knob to turn. It's not a huge deal, and I'd rather have the assist feature working so I've put it together in the "on" position and left it that way...but I'd still like to have the feature available. It's one of the reasons I bought the Cy to begin with. I thought that maybe the new bars were just so stiff that they'd need to wear in a bit, then the knob would start working...but alas, it's been 2 months or so, and the knob is still quite stuck.

Did Kershaw maybe change the design of the knob a little when they redesigned the bars? Do I need to cut/file a little relief out of the knob to get it working again? I figured I'd asked the gurus here before hacking up bits and pieces of a knife I dearly love. :)

I've never been a Cyclone expert, so I can't help you. Call Kershaw Customer Service at 1-800-325-2891. Ask for Craig or Dawn. I guarantee they can help you.

interestingly enough i am having the opposite problem in a thread herehttp://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=547104 mine tends to have a mind of its own. check to see if the screw that goes through the wheel is too tight, as it might prevent the wheel from turning.

Slade has a good idea. I had the same problem with my Cyclone. Tweaking the torque of the wheel and spine screws will affect the on/off function.

Interesting. I will definitely look into that, but I didn't crank down on the screw all that much...perhaps I don't know my own strength? :)

I'll look at it, and if that doesn't solve the problem I'll give CS a call. Thanks guys.
