I'm thinking of getting a kershaw, leek or cyclone but I'm kinda at a crossroads of wich version I should choose.

the mini-cyclone KS1635 vs KS1636TIZDP, is the KS1636TIZDP really worth 80-90$ more then the KS1635, sure it look alot nicer imo but do I get 80 something $ more knife?

same thing with the leek KS1660 vs KS1660G10.

do someone have both and willing to share some thoughts on the matter?

OK! I'm convinced I will go get the zdp mini cyclone blindly and happily and with out coherent thought in my head while humming the theme to airwolf instead of getting a mini cyclone, a leek and a blur for roughly the same amount. Thanks guys :P
any one else?

Okay, I'll go out on a limb here, and say WHY you might like the ZDP Cyclone for the extra cash.

First: Titanium Frame Lock. That speaks volumes to me, and lots of other folks, as far as being a light-weight, sturdy, quality material with excellent lock-up.

Second: ZDP-189. It's worth extra, because, well...it's cool. It also holds an edge beyond belief. Maybe it would save you the time and effort you would spend sharpening other knives, but only you can put a price on that.

Third: Everybody else is doing it! Okay, maybe not, but it really is a cool knife. After having a standard Leek, and the ZDP, I will probably never go back to the standard, or even the G10. I'm spoiled on the quality and coolness. The blade steel really is a good selling point. It makes a lot of difference, if you use your knives more than a little bit. And Ti frame locks last forever.

Anyway, that's my opinions, based on my experiences, and offered to help you make a decision. Yes, it's worth it.

we dont hum the theme to air wolf-we prefer the A team

for a few extra beans you get- a ti framelock and zdp blade -
and yes you could buy a few other knives for what 1 zdp mini costs, you get the zdp while you can because they are limited-and get some more kershaws down the road, just dont forget to hum the A team theme while you do it

zdp it is. thanks!
A team is that the one that goes da-da-da-da da-di-dam da-da-da-da do-dili-dum?

That is correct. ;)

You won't be disappointed with the zdp. It holds an edge forever.

Anyone that want to share your experience with resharpening / reshaping the edge geometry on a blade in the ZDP?
Can it be done with normal equipment like SiC 240 grit / Al2O3 320 grit and then a leather strop / polishing wax for the final touch?
I like the edge thin and I also whant to have the possibility to reshape the edge angles to something more in my taste.
My experience is that the Sandvik 13C26 used in a lot of the Kershaw knives really resharpens well, shaving sharp after the leather strop - literally !

I re-profiled my TiZDP Leek with diamond stones. Yes it's a bitch compared with the Sandvik but well worth it once you have it where you want it. Many here have done it without using diamond stones, so yes it can be done....it'll just take about twice the time I'm guessing. It took me 2 nights at about 2 / 2.5 hours to take mine down to 12 degrees per side.

While I haven't reprofiled the edge on my MC ZDP, I did have to touch it up a little, using the Sharpmaker. It is some work, but the finished edge was just as sharp as the factory. ZDP plays hell with a Sharpmaker.

You always have the option to send it to Tom Krein for a regrind. Gary did his, and here is a pic of his:

From all that I've read about his regrinds, the same phrase keeps popping up: "cust like a laser".

My first Kershaw, a Ti ZDP mini-cyclone. I was pretty much a Benchmade guy but the first time I cut with a mini-cyclone it just felt right in my hand. I kept coming back to it in the store, so figured what the heck, I'd spring for the Ti ZDP. It's now my EDC displacing my red Osborne 941BC, and all I can say is I'm just amazed how long the ZDP stays sharp. TI Frame lock is a vault. It's a bit heavy but the Ti version takes off 0.5 ounce. THe only thing I don't like is that there are holes for mounting the clip on only one side. Being left handed, I'd prefer to have the clip on the other side. It's just an awesome knife.
