Hey folks, first post ever, hope I'm doing it right. Just bought a full size Cyclone and am loving it, haven't found anything it doesn't love to cut. My question to you with more knowledge is this: I have big hands and the handle gets slippery quickly. I've heard of using skateboard tape for this but wondered how this would look, as I really like the look of the knife. Any ideas/suggestions? Perhaps new handles? And is this even possible? Thanks so much for the help.

Know what you mean -all the metal slab sided designs seem slipery to me . Have used the rubbery tennis racket grip tape to deal with this -comes in black -you cut the non-double stick tape edges off and put a strip of the stuff up the left side of the knife and as much as you want up the clip side of the knife. Nice thing is that this stuff magically sticks really well to the metal slabs -but you get a thumbnail under a edge and you can just peel it right off.Weirdly transforms the feel of the tool in a good way.

1. Aluminum handles, yes? You can have them blasted
a. Aluminum oxide makes a nice dark gray but grippy feel.
b. Sandblast gives a silvery color and very grippy feel.
Of course you would be removing the hard black coating the factory puts on.

2. Someone like STR, MIGHT re-scale but I don't know, the aluminum has recessed pockets in it(dificult)??

clintg, welcome to the forums. For Kershaw knives, you're in the right place!

First, you've selected an excellent choice. I love the Cyclones...I have 6, and hopefully another on the way. I have pretty big mitts too, and really haven't had a problem with grip. There are some that have used skateboard tape cut to fit the handles. I haven't tried this. There are other options, such as G-10. If I were you, I'd wait to see what other answers the Kershawholics come up with.

In the meantime, you might want to check out STR's thread. He probably has some great remedies, and he is very good at what he does. Check out his low-rider clips. With the Cyclone tip-up, his clips make the knife handle unseen...makes em in a blue jean color...a very neat idea. Here's a link to his thread: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=810.
Read his stickys, and if you want to ask him a question fire away. He's a great asset to have.

So welcome, and stop on in anytime. There are some very knowledgeable people here, but watch out for that Thomas W guy...he's been known to pull shenanigans every once and a while! :D

Thanks for the replies everyone. I've sent off an email to STR. SPXTrader, I noticed you're in SW VA. Me too, I'm in Roanoke. I actually drove up to Bluefield to New Graham knives Monday to get this Cyclone.

The Cyclone is an excellent folder!...I have 3 of 'em. Up 'till a few days ago, I had 4, but I traded one for (another) Groove. I really like the on/off option that the Cyclone has, (eventho I leave mine "on" all the time).

Yeah, Glockman99 I'm thinking of picking up another one with the tanto blade. I'm not a huge liner lock guy, but I've tested the Cyclone a little with no problems and it is easily the heftiest LL I've seen. I'm really impressed with the knife.
