Hello all, Been out fer awhile. I ran across this knife a couple weeks ago and fell in love with it. Now what i was wondering is does it come in black plain edge or just the combo? I know the quality is good, but hows the lock on it? havent handled any kershaws in a while bout 2 years...... I like beefy liner locks. thanks Phil
 
I felt the liners on the Cyclone were solid. Can't recall exactly what they measured at but I never had any qualms about the lockup. If you like beefy liners you might want to give the JYD 2 a look.
 
Bp1, the liners are solid and the lock-up is very strong. I wouldn't worry about them.

As for the plain edge DLC coated black blades, they were available. Not sure if they are still in production tho. Kershaw's site just shows the 1630BLKST (serrated DLC coated). The model numbers you are looking for are 1630BLK for the big one, and 1635BLK for the Mini. You might try the auction site.
 
I have both the big and the mini and I absolutely love them both., I use the plain blades but my son likes the semi serrated. It's a horse a piece, great product and the liners are stout
