some one asked for my formula. First wrap the blade/s in newspapertightly. wrap in stainless foil. double crimp. Place in oven and bring the temp to 1900 degrees F at the rate of 1200 degrees per hour. Hold 40,minutes. Air quench using high pressure air. Return the blade/s to the oven. bring to 350-400 for 2 hours. This is the soak. Good to go. It should give you a Rockwell of 61-62RC.ood Luck. Bob

This should be in the Maker's section.
The 350 F is the temper not soak .Soak is the 40 minutes .
Plate quench would be very convenient rather than air quench - faster and better.

Do you remove from the foil before you air cool? I ask because some say to leave in the pouch, others say to remove from the pouch. Allowing it to air cool, do you have trouble with warping?

If air cooling, I always remove from the pouch, though I've never used compressed air, just moving air. If plate quenching (by far my preferred method), I quench in the packet. Just make sure it's flat and doesn't have folds that might make it sit unevenly on the plates.
