Who made the D-2 rats? Will ESEE sheaths fit the D-2 knives? How about the ESEE grips?

Ontario made the RATs with D2. As for the sheaths.. I have no idea. The grips I don't think would work well.

Different knives... swap parts at your own risk, but if you want ESEE sheath and ESEE grips, get the ESEE knife and have the parts, quality, & warranty that ESEE stands behind.

Just sayin'

I already have a set of D-2 knives. I was just curious about who made them, and if it ever became necessary, whether the sheaths, and grips would interchange.
Mine are very well made, except for the RAT 7. It looks like it was cut out of a sheet of D-2 with a hand hacksaw. You can still see the saw marks, all the way around the outside of the knife, except where the blade was shaped. It's usable, but it's butt ugly!

IIRC, the ESEE 3 and 4 have handles that are 1/2" longer than the RAT 3 and 4, so, no how, no way the scales will fit.

dunno about the sheaths. it's possible. cant recall ever hearing of someone trying it. the 4 sheath is kydex, so it's possible to hit it with a heat gun if there's some slop.

Handles on the ESEEs are indeed longer than on the Ontarios

That sounds about right fixer. Personally I am a huge fan of the 1095 that ESEE/Rowen uses on these knives, sharpening them is a breeze. So if you are going to get one for the sheath and handles (which are not sold separately) I would just keep it together and use it.

But if the RAT 3 in D2 is working for you then keep on using it.

Here's a cut and paste of my answer to your cross post...

Ontario makes the D-2's.

My D-2 fits all 3 of my ESEE sheaths.

The ESEE scales will not fit the D-2 Ontario's without redrilling new, and filling existing, holes.
