D-2 Sharp!

I now have 3 knives with D-2 steel and am convinced that it is a CUTTING steel. Two of the knives are by Bob Dozier, an Agent fixed blade and my newest acquisition a Buckhunter folder. Of course Bob is a master of D-2 and it shows! Both knives came hair popping sharp. The edges had a rough feel until I introduced them to my Sharpmaker. Edges are now more polished and don't even touch skin to send hair flying! I have used the Agent to cut carpet and even though this took the razor sharp edge off it didn't take but a few passes on the 204 to bring it back up to speed. I haven't yet used the Buckhunter but plan on carrying it since it is outfitted with a clip. Have another string about the BH, but still need to mention that it is one of the toughest folders I have ever seen. The tab lock system Bob uses on this folder simply makes this knife a fixed blade when open!
The other D-2 steel knife is my Darrel Dalph MADD MAXX. It has the modified D-2 which I beleive to be the addition on vandium? At any rate it also just scares the hairs right off! With the high grind it has it is nothing short of a scapel! I think it is the sharpest knife I have although both Doziers are right behind it.

How about it, anyone else out there equally impressed with the D-2 steel? Chime in and tell what you have.

Thanks.

I have two Doziers,a Toothpick and a Straight Personal, and I am very imnpressed! Between the D2 steel and the Dozier craftmanship, these babies are wickedly sharp.I too have polished the edge a bit on a strop, but mainly just for looks.I just wish I could afford a Dozier folder to round out the set! D2 is great, in my opinion, when it comes to sharp.Don't know anything about stain or rust resistance yet.

I own 2 D2 steel blades. Both by KABAR, one the clipoint folder the other the full sized KA BAR knife.

It is one heck of a good steel, but it sure likes to rust!
