D C Motors??

Would a 75-140 volt dc motor be strong enough to run a belt grinder?? Thanks! Michael

It depends on the HP rating but the voltage range is fine.

i am no electrician (and most electricians dont know much about motors)-but i am pretty sure there are two types of dc motors, and if you want to run one variable speed, it MUST be a permanent magnet type. im sure someone here can supply more info. the main reason i know this is because of all the metal shavings all over my motors...make SURE its totally enclosed or it will be toast in about a month.
