I need suggestions/recommendations for a good D-cell flashlight. Minimum specs:

1. powered by at least 2 D-cells, but not more than 3
2. made of plastic (hence, not a Maglite)
3. waterproof
4. reliable switching system
5. big plus if it's an LED

Thanks in advance.

If you are looking for a larger LED light I would suggest a CCrane Trek-7. I uses 3 C cells, not D's but it is the brightest light out there right now. You can find them at http://www.glow-bug.com/products/fl_trek7.html
On my site I have a short review of one and pictures of how bright it is and what it looks like. I have seen a couple of 3 D cell lights with LED replacements, but they don't seem to be waterproof. I have had the Trek 7 down about 90 feet without a problem.

The only D-Cell, plastic, waterproof lights I know of are lanterns and not flashlights. I can't think of any LED, D-Cell, plastic, waterproof flashlights.

What you could do is take the Eveready 2 or 3 D-Cell flashlight and add a LED bulb. I've seen the LED PR-Base bulbs in White, Red, Green and IR. The only thing it would be lacking is waterproofness.
