VERY good book, you learn things just from reading him talk about things, even when he does not actually TALK about them...
What surprised me the most, was just how INTERESTING it is...This guy can actually WRITE!

Just got Bushcraft, but have not had time to read it.

Like RickJ, I'd like to know where I can find this book. I looked on Amazon, but it's not there, and I'd like to get me a copy of it, too.

Being old fashioned, I wanted to pick up a copy of the original, however, "Keeping Warm.." is out of print, so consequently they're are very limited quantities. I had to pre-order on amazon recently, but still have not received notice on an available copy. :(

If anyone has one in any condition they would like to sell, please feel free to email me at the PM! :)

Thanks,

Anthony

Got to place my order today! www.amazon.com has got a batch of used original, "Keeping Warm With An Axe" ,by Dudley Cook, but no paperbacks at all at this time, so it ran me and extra $12. for the hardcover, but I was obliged to get this old jem of a book for just under $40. after shipping costs!.. So I am now a happy camper :D

There are some other copies available, but it did not appear to be too many more... Good Luck & God Bless!

jrk,

.. I just got that bad boy delivered in the old mailbox TODAY! Very nice, hard cover copy from Boise, Idaho, courtesy of the Idaho State Library System, 1981 printing. But, you would not know it from its wonderful appearance. The entire book is in super shape, and although the clear protective cover has faded a bit with just a few marks on it, that said, it does not look like it was even checked out more than a dozen times or so... Much, much better than described! :D

I am very excited to crack it open and read some of the reportedly great information within... I will let you know in a day or two some of the more intersting information I come across... And incidently, THANK YOU for the recommendation of such a worth while book!.. This is a classic example why I value this community so much. Good Folks helping eachother. .. I'm in your debt.

Chat back w/u/soon~

jrk,
What a book! Just fabulous! You are right about his writing ability, and as a guy who just went through (4) huricanes (2 of them hit us directly)in this lousy state within the last (8) or (9) weeks with his wife and children, I can truly say that I can identify with him intimately. ;) Plus, he is probably one of the best technical writers I have had the pleasure to read in alonnnng time... Great Read & highly recommended for anyone North of the Florida Keys!.. If you have a wood burning fireplace you need this book on you're mantle...

Thanks Again~

You also have some WEIRD feeling sand down there!

South Florida sand is really just ground up shells that clumps up under you're feet when you walk in the beach... But you get used to it after the second or third female thong you see...

If you really like pure white and pristine sand and more thongs than any one man needs to see in a day, than go to Daytona Beach... Man it will knock your sooks off...

Ahhh...That explanes it...I never knew about that shell thing!
I just remember that it felt strange, and made strange noises when you walked on it...I was just a kid the last time I was on the beach there, and I do not think thongs were considered acceptble beach wear back then.:(

Hey...Maybe the corse 'sand' incourages the thongs because there is less for it to get caught under.:D

Glad I could help keep your sinuses clear at this time of year!:D

If I could just be consistant with that kind of observation, I could get Andy Rooney's job...You know...I really like the guy, but he is getting a bit too political lately...Like with his saying that our battleships never did anything usefull, and that our tanks were useless in Iraq?:p
