Hey guys, so for christmas I'll be indulging myself on a niceee OTF from microtech, but as of now my options are kinda limited. I'm deciding between a two-tone double edged dagger style ultratech, versus a single edged, drop point ultratech that is single toned.
I would be all for the two toned dagger style, except for the fact that it would probably cause sheeple to crap themselves, and the added hassle of sharpening doesn't help either. Furthermore, I'm worried as to how dangerous and delicate a D/E blade would be. The last thing I would want is to cut myself doing normal EDC chores, or having the tip dent or break off.On the other hand the single edged ultratech doesn't have that sexy two-toned finish, which kind of turns me off. There's certainly utility, but I'm just not as sold on the whole design aspect of the drop-point.
That being said (and being realistic) I'm primarily a collector who occasionally brings out my knives on camping trips and the like, so I'm not going to be sawing through sisal and cardboard on the daily. And as far as I can see, the only time an OTF would prove of anymore use than a normal flipper is when you're carrying a D/E blade. So yeah, I'm having a hard time making a decision.
