Grimspoon, I read some one say that they had to take their d-guard off because it made their knuckles raw, So I wanted to keep it well away from my knuckles. I think I might take an inch or two out of it later and still have clearance enough.
Winston, I did not really pay attention to keeping the twists consistent. I was just focusing on tight. I figured I would have to start over several times till I was satisfied, but the first wrap felt nice and tight. I did not put a base wrap, because I wanted to keep the width (top to bottom of the tang) to a minimum. I started the wrap by threading the cord 3 times back and forth under the wrap through the skelly holes to give it a bit more girth side to side.
