I had to post a pic of this one. I won Best Bowie at the PKA show and also Best of Show with it. The blade is forged 1084 10 3/4" long and 1 3/4" wide, 3/16" wide at the guard with a distal taper. The d-guard is nitre blued mild steel along with the fittings. One spacer is nickel silver. The handle is hippo ivory. This was probably one of the most enjoyable knives I have made in a long time. The balance point was at the guard.

Well it looks to me like you certainly deserved to get those awards. That is an exceptional bowie. Beautiful shape and I love the temper line. I would like to get a closer look at the guard/ferrule area if possible.

WOW, those are not easy awards to come by...that is an AMAZING accomplishment, CONGRATULATIONS!!! :D

That piece is simply fantastic!!! A D-guard is probably one of the most difficult fittings to construct...and execute it well.

Just flat gorgeous! :D

Thanks for sharing!

Man, Nick's not fair, he used all my adjectives! That is a fantastic bowie and really elevated my day to something special. Please do show more detail if you can, this beautiful piece deserves it. Thanks for sharing,

Dave

Congratulations!

Looks to be well deserved too. That is one superb looking bowie! Love the fittings, shapes, colors and accents on that beauty. Awesome knife!

Thanks everyone! I wish I had a better picture of the fittings but unfortunately I didn't get any closeups before it left for the show and I don't have it now. The fittings were made of mild steel and after the guard it was 1/4" piece with a filed line around the middle of it followed by a 3/16" piece of nickel silver with lines filed in it at 45 degree angles all the way around followed by another piece of 1/4" with a line filed around the middle of it. All of the fittings were ground to the same size as the hippo ivory handle.
