D guard fighter

Let me know what you think. 7 1/2" blade, 13 1/2 oa. 1084 blade differentially hardened and etched, mild steel guard, and rosewood handle.

I like it, but would be concerned with the pommel area working on the side of my hand when chopping or thrusting with it. Its hard to tell how much room it has for the hand by the picture, but it looks really cool. Nice job

Looks good, D-gards are cool! I would love to see how that one fits my hand, like Bill said I'd be a little concerned about the but part of the gaurd, but can't tell without handling it. :cool:
 
As for the handle. I admit that i hadn't realy thought about a lot of the ergonomics of it so there are a couple of things that prolly should have been done differently. It works fairly well in most grips but a french foil grip, which is too bad since that is one I like to use. Someone with very large hands will prolly also find the whole grip and guard too small. There are definatle a couple of changes for when I make the next one.

Mark, as for chalenging your title I think I'm still outclassed. Or would that be underclassed? :p
