I figure it's better to try something and not know what you're doing than to not try at all. I made the guard from Titanium and plan to anodize it bronze when finished. Please feel free to give any suggestions you may have. I'm trying to decide if I can screw the guard to the wood. Really small wood screw countersunk behind the blade is easy, but not sure about the butt-end. Yellow dots would approximate where I could drill and install the screws, but I'm not sure how it would look. Not quite finished shaping the guard. I really can't until I can secure it to the wood.

If the tang is properly fitted to the handle, it will be quite snug. Epoxy can take care of the rest. Make the tang nut so it can draw the assembly up snug.
