Does D.H. Russell produce its models in carbon as well as stainless? Most sites are advertising them as high carbon stainless mystery steel. I'm looking at the bird and trout model specifically. I remember reading somewhere that they are available in carbon flavor by special order.
Any help on this is much appreciated!

sorry...double post

Dakota: Yes, they come in carbon as well as Stainless Steel. A professor of mine has the bird and trout in SS, a very nice piece. I bought the #1 in carbon, but I never used it and traded it. Go for the carbon. The stainless isn't a mystery stainless (I have it written down somewhere-- if I find it, I'll post it), but it sure ain't ATS-34! The carbon will perform better.

Thank you very much for your replies!
Carbon steel sounds like the way to go.

Keep in mind the carbon version rusts quite easily. I prefer the stainless version. It is easy to sharpen and holds a good edge.

Carbon steel is no problem in my climate. Today the humidity has climbed to a whopping 18%

I scrolled down the Marshman page and saw something I had never seen or heard of before.

A flat ground model made from 3/32" stock and 8" OAL. It looks like it would be a cutting machine in the class of the A.G. Russell Deer Hunter!

I love that knife!

Also, the carbons are a great way to go, and I'll be getting more of the out of stock models soon, too.

Thanks for the mention, Alan!
