How do you beadblast a metal surface yourself? What kind of tools are needed?

Thanks

:)

Usually blasting media of your choice, a blasting cabinent (with nozzle, media bin, media feed etc), pressured air source.

I think you can pick up relatively inexpensive blast cabinent and supplies at places like grizzley tools or other discount tool vendors.

The most expensive thing will be a compressor but as mentioned the rest of the goodies are fairly easy to pick up for a reasonable price.

Or, you could just throw hand fulls of sand at it for a few hours :D:thumbup:

Google a Badger Mini Sandblaster. Yes, it's not a beadblaster, but it's a good start. The kit comes with a compressed air cannister. I use an airbrush compressor for my setup. Best to blast outdoors unless you have a makeshift cabinet to catch all the dust. Wear a respirator! :)

Don't forget to tape up your lock face, and I'd go easy around the holes!

Wish I had a blasting cabinet. Everything in my dang house would be bead-blasted. Good luck!

Professor.

I really shouldn't have found this thread. Now I'm thinking about getting a sandblasting cabinet. :D

The mini blaster is exactly what i was looking for!

I understand this one comes with sand as blasting media, where can i get beads?

I use Aluminum Oxide to blast the titanium, gets the same color as factory.
Got the A O at Harbor Freight.
For me, sand and beads are a little too "silver" a finish, AO has the nice gray finish.

For a hobbyist, Harbor Freight is the way to go.
Cheap, and small table top cabinet and small compressor and your in business.
If you want to shoot your sebenza let me know and I'll mail you some of the stuff we use to mask the lock.
don't worry too much about the holes.
If you mess up the lock; don't panic. Stop, mail it back to us and we can probably fix it. :)
