D2 carving knives?

I have a hand made carving knife that I got awhile back. Its made by Diobsud Forge. I would like to make some knives with whatever steel it has in it because its really sharp and tough.My only guess is that its made with D2. I really doubt that its a stainless due to how sharp and tough it is. It also does well with work on a honing strop whereas most of my stainless knives get a rolled edge with to much stropping.I think it has some chrome in it though because it is very shiny and has no discoloration even after several years of hard use.What do you guys think it is? What would you use for carving knives?
