Whew! I just finished putting an edge on my new D2 Esky. The factory edge was pretty rough. Not the usual edge that I have come to expect from my other Beckers. I put it on my Edge Pro and went to work. Let me tell ya, this D2 is some tough stuff. I have other blades in D2 and know its properties, but this took some time and effort. What I ended up with is an edge that will push cut newspaper with just the weight of the blade. Highly recommend!!! But be prepared to put a little extra effort into the edge. 1095 is so much easier to refine. I expect great edge retention from this one! Am going to order a few more!
All the best!

Mine came shaving sharp from the factory. I was gladly surprised, because my other Beckers couldn't when they came from the factory. I have yet to sharpen it, but I hope I can go a long way with just stropping... We'll see. I'm already impressed with how it held up. No dulling from the factory sheath either, until now.

Mine came shave sharp too but I couldn't help myself, I just had to convex it. So I put it on my Work Sharp and went to town. It took a little longer than 1095cv but not too much longer. Since then, about 3-4 months now, I've only had to strop it a few times to keep it shave sharp. Keep in mind that this is my edc it it gets used almost everyday.

Definitely a must have for anyone that doesn't mind the initial effort to get the edge where you want it.

Touched mine up on the sharpmaker. Got to tell you I'm really impressed with this little blade.

A 16 in D2 would be really sweet. And a 15. I'm not sure if D2 would be the ideal choice for the larger BK's, but for the tweeners... definitely!
