Same here. I don't think they were made without the serrations. I too would love to have the option. Would be interesting to see a new issue with one of the newer super-steels like D2 was back in the day.
Probably never going to happen, even though I too would like to have it. Aside from the few of us here that want a D2 with no serrations, the hard truth is that for the other 95% of the knife market, serrations are what sells.
I don't care for serrations, unless it's a full SpyderEdge on a Spyderco. I can live with partial serrations if they're on another mfrs. model that I like; I won't let it be a deal-killer.
I have been told that the cutco version of the Ka-Bar F/U with the next gen style guard and pommel has serrations that stick out from the edge and can be ground off rather than ones that are cut into the edge. However I think they are made from 440a thought the quality is supposed to be on par with Ka-bar products. If you're not familiar Cutco is the parent company of Ka-Bar, or maybe they're both under the same parent company but I think it's the first one.
