D2 finish

I prefer a satin finish (applied with a fine Scotchbrite belt, after a 320 grit) on a working knife.

And a hand rubbed (to 600 grit) finish on special ones.
 
I use four belts. 36 grit to hog off steel, 120 3M trizact to smooth out grind lines, coarse scotchbrite then fine scotchbrite loaded with 600 grit compound.
