D2 Impact Spear Point

Whats everyones opinion on this knife, how well does it hold an edge and is it fairly durable? I have been carrying a nighthawk 655 while outdoors however the blade just seems a tad to thick & would prefer something a little thinner!

Also where is a best place to buy one (looking for the cheapest price).

Thanx.

I think Pitdog will chime in soon....I think he has one.

I don't have one, but I think it's a good design. Ka-bars reputation is good, so why not get one?

You don't see or hear much about the impact series and i really don't know why. The only thing i remember negative about this model is that the D-2 may not hold up well to chopping. myself i've always liked the impact series and have wanted one for some time. I'd say if the price is right go for it. as far as the design for this model it seems to me to be a good all around piece that would serve well for general outdoor use. just my .02. If you get one post it and let us know how you like it. I do have to say that $115 seems a tad high to me.

I've been an admirer of Kabar's IMPACT series for some time, it's about time they came up with a new line. I'm not a fan of D2 though.....(it's personal) :D

I think it would be fine for shopping. that thing is a TANK. you pick it up and it feels like its made out of lead.

I've owned one for several years and love it. I have abused the hell out of that thing and it just keeps begging for more.

Honestly that knife doesn't look practical to me for any purpose (including sd and fighting). The blade is probably sturdy enough for any responsible use. Everything I know about D2 steel (which honestly isn't a whole lot) tells me that it's a great steel if the heat treatment was done right, so its sharpness/edge holding should be respectable.

I own the exact same knife, the KABAR D2 Impact. I'm a bit disappointed with the handle's ergonomics. Can't seem to find the comfortable way of holding her. Also, the blade is a wee too thin. Really sharp, but won't serve as a great fighting knife.
