I have been working on this one for a little while..It is by no means "perfect" but I knew that I had better stop before I ruin it !!! Specs are D2 Heat treat & cryo by TKS, desert iron wood, copper spacers, mosiac pins, satin finish. OAL 12", Blade 7". I think that this is my best work so far.. It is my 8th knife..Sorry for the crappy pic's....what do you guys think??

Louis, that's fantastic! Love it and hey, not perfect means custom...at least that's what one of my buddies told me. Not sure if I believe him, but it makes me feel better when I "finish" a knife. :)

Looks very good and would look better if you made an open fronted box out of white poster board from an art supply and covered the top with a layer of white plastic garbage bag material. Then shine the brightest lights you got ( I use a couple 250 watt hologens) down on the plastic top. The plastic cuts out the glare and the white lights up your knife. Read how to do this on a thread I believe here. It works and is a big help. and cheap cheap.

Thanks guy's, BTW I am using a light box :grumpy: .....Eric, I went to blade smithing school with a guy named Carl Barnhill from Ashland VA .It is about 30 miles south of you..

Louis, I know exactly where it is. Too cool! I so want to go to the school one of these days. What did you find most helpful about the classes? Also, which class would you suggest for the best bang?

Looks like a very usable knife, great size and blade shape.

For me I would like to a little more curvature or shaping to the handle would my comment.

But if that's your 8th knife it's good to go and I'd like to see you make more!

Awesome knife! Love the lines. A nice combination of art and function. First class work.

Looks great,Louis-nice work:thumbup: BTW did you start working with the stuff you got from Aldo yet?

Shawn I still have 20 blades to finish/ruin that I forged at school !!With all of that 5160 in front of me the 1084 will have to wait a while before I screw any of it up !!!

Wow, man... that looks killer!

I know what you mean by needing to stop before you wreck it, too. That 'one last touch' is generally what sets me back another 3 hours!

Oh lordy... the infamous "last-touch"... "OK, I'll just give it one more pass on the grinder and then I'll ... Awww SH!T !" :( Someone around here (probably several someones) said "many's the small knife that started as a big knife..."

Nice work, rocketmann!

I haven't seen enough of your knives to know if I would consider this one to be your best so far, but I sure do like it.
