D2 Modified steel

I am thinking of buying a knife that uses D2 modified steel for the blade. From what I understand it is the same as D2 except it has more chromium. I really like D2 and wonder if anyone has had experience with this new steel. What do you think of it?
Thanks for your help.

There should be about 100+ people (or more) over in the REKAT forum who have had experience with it., in the form of the REKAT Pikuni. I have one myself, and it seems to be a pretty good steel, so far. My gut feel, for some reason, is that it doesn't quite hold its edge as good as the regular D2 in one of my other knives. I don't know if that is the heat treat, the composition, or the 3/4 inch difference in blade length (cutting up cardboard).

At least this will bump this back up to the top, so maybe there will be some more input.

Thanks, I hope to get more info, because the knife that I am interested in is $595.00. I would like to make the right choice.

Keith, just curious. Is this a Dozier knife you are talking about? If so then have no fear because no one does D-2 better than Bob Dozier. I have a Folding Dagger by Bob that has the D-2 and it has done great.

If you are not talking about a Dozier knife then disregard this, or begin to consider a Bob Dozier knife!!

Hi Art, actually it is the new Darrel Ralph Mad Max. This is one killer looking knife.
I know Bob Dozier's knives are great and will someday get one. Thanks.
