D2, polished or toothy edge?

Another vote for toothy! D2 is a working steel, so put that thing through the wringer

I like polished but I can't do it myself. A few years ago I bought a used 913 Stryker that had been sharpened a few times. It was somewhat convexed and polished, and very sharp.

By nature, D2 is going to be more toothy due to the carbide size. Even a polished edge is going to have more bite than a steel with smaller carbides, like s30v, M390, CPM-M4, etc., that is polished to thd same degree.

I put the one d2 that I have through the same stones as I would a powdered steel from diamond or alumox bench stones to the sharpmaker and the d2 still seems rippy-er bc of the carbides than fine edged. I really like it! I also don't find that it stains or rusts that quickly either.

Either way need to try/get more stuff in this steel it really likeable!

D2 is a workhorse and been around for many years. The key is regular touchups, and in many cases simply stropping the edge will keep the blade in play. Just don't allow it to go dull.
