Can anybody recommend some sharpening equipment that I can use to sharpen D2 steel. I can spend about 50-70 dollars. Thanks

Straight or recurve edge? Benchmade D2 blades will go along time before they need resharpened.

Something like a 6"+ DMT coarse will do. Then finish on higher grits or ceramics. I just finished rebeveling on a Queen Sodbuster coarse DMT so just sharpening should be fine. The 6" benchstone should run around $30.

I like DMT diamond and ceramic hones. The DMT blue/red combo's work fine, as does the spyderco ceramic stone (fine). Personally, I think that a lot of the "problems" sharpening D2 are overrated. It sharpens up great, especially with diamonds.

Mine is serrated, the Spyderco Sharpmaker can sharpen serrations right? I could get a course DMT and a Sharpmaker. Thanks for the help so far.

If the sharpmaker doesn't, you can get some small ceramic "dog bone" sharpeners from Lansky that are patterned for Spyderco serrations. Sounds like you are on the right track.

I use the DMT Aligner jig, with a set of four from Extra Course to Extra Fine.
The extra course is very good for fast removal.
I use the set to rebevel Queen D2 knives that come with a poor factory grind.
I get constant good results that are razor sharp off the jig.

The Aligner comes with Course, Fine and EF for less than $50, and an extra Course is another $10.

Hey Neeman, is this the jig you were talking about.

This one comes with a rod for sharpening serrations so I think I'll get it. There goes my excuse to buy a Spyderco Sharpmaker. Thanks for all the help. There are some really great people on Bladeforums.

Yes.
But it will only do very small blades with difficulty, like pen blades of a small slippie
Otherwise excellent
