D2 steel

It will depend on the intended use, but my Benchmade folder in D2 (710) performs great with a 18 DPS secondary bevel and a 21 DPS micro bevel finished up to 1000 grit.

As others have said; depends on your use.

D2 and A2 rocks IMO.

D2 'take a lousy edge but holds it forever' used to be a saying.

Ive seen D2 zip through deer after deer after other knifde steels have needed re-sharpening.

There are loads of interesting modern steels but D2 is still more than fine in my book.

I think my Avispa is 20 works just fine with the full flat grind. Blade stock isn't that thick. I've hardly needed to sharpen it. Just quick touch ups. It stays sharp for a long time. I haven't felt the need to reprofile or add a relief bevel. If any of that helps

I have multiple hunting blades and agree. It takes a bitey edge and holds it. Cuts meat very well and splits sternum like a champ. I love d2 I have 40+ knives in it I have made 5 in it. My 30-06
