Even with all yalls help, I still haven't decided on which folder to get. So I'm buying more than one.

First I'm getting a Camillus EDC. I need to decide on the regular version with 154cm steel for ~$50 or a version with a D2 blade, for ~$85.

I'm wondering if the steel is really worth 35 dollars more.

There is an actual topic named in the other direction (154CM vs. D2). Maybe you take a look there?

If you are going to have really heavy use then the D2 would be worth the cost, it will require more care to keep stain free. If you want a more worry free pocket knife that you won't be cutting miles of material with then the 154CM is more rust proof and is good for many yards of cutting.

I was cutting hard, air dried saucage with D2 and get chips. As i was told, this is normal. As i said on other places: two or three chips and they remained.

I was chopping on 1" thick sticks with 154CM and nothing happened. Not dulling not chipping.

So the point of worry-free has a wider sense to me.

I would conclude: 154CM has a more general use spectrum and D2 is the greater steel for slicing especially when it is getting dirty. There are some hunters who won´t change D2 for 154 CM.

But non specialists like me would do.:D

Throw in another 33 bucks and get the BM806d2. Coated to resist rust and has the axis lock which really rocks!!!

Maybe it is the heat treatment on the D2 blades I use, but I've purposely left them dirty to see what kind of corrosion I would get. They've had blood dry on them, been put back in their sheaths still wet with creek water, muddy, etc. None of them show any signs of anything.

These are around 62HRC but I'm not sure if that has any affect.

I have just had my BM335 LE with Ti frame and D2 blade go throught the washing machine in the pocket of my jeans. Went through the wash, rinse and dry cycle and was also put out on the clothline to dry. Only effect was a bit of spot rust on the etching and the tang contacting the stop pin. So as treated by BM, they be good stuff!!
