D2 vs. CPM S30V

Hi, I'm trying to narrow down my choice of a tool steel and am currently trying to decide between the final two.

D2 and CPM S30V.

Which one is better in terms of edge retention?

Which one has a better quality edge?

Is machinability about the same?

Any info or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

D2 and S30V are comparable in edge holding.

S30V is much tougher than D2. D2 can break if used for side loads. S30V probably won't.

S30V will dull tools faster.
