At the Alanta meeting I bought one of the D2 118's [for 25.00] and gave it a real workout yesterday...It was the sharpest out of the box Buck Iv'e ever had,and passed it's first test with flying colors!!!!!! My son Richard and I caught some verrrrry large Black drum,30 lb or so,over 3 foot long and I used the D2 to butcher them out...Now these have half dollar sized scales and TOUGH skin as well as large rib bones and that 118 went right thru it! At one point I was going to get a hammer to tap the back of the blade so as not to stress my wrist out but that Buck really did the job..A forum member said it was one of the best user Bucks ever made and I think I have to agree with him..The best part was that it stayed sharp! I know it's a collectable but man oh man it really did great on a tough job...If you got one...'Try it you'll like it' unless maybe you got one of the few stag handled one's..But what the heck,we all got more than one or two Bucks put up..It's my new fav user!!

Bucks,I would'nt use a hammer on the back.If you want to mallet it use a wooden limb or 2x2". As metal to metal blows are very shocking to a metal knife.Glad you like the D2 118.Now where exactly is that fishing hole?DM

Picture Time !!!

Haven't used mine yet, picked up two at the Oregon show, good to hear the review Bucksway...

A couple of pics:

The hole is 50 yards past the second island [right before marker 33] at the end of state road 40 at Yankeytown Florida 50 miles SW of Ocala out in the Gulf ...It's a real quick trip from the dock [less than 1/2 mile] so even a shallow draft bass boat can get out there easy...Try that D2...It's my first real 'user' fixed blade Buck and it's size is just about perfect...We could not get over catching so many "BIG" fish so quick...As soon as the tide started to rise they lit up! So many hookups! Even on heavy [4/0 30# line 60# fluorcarborn leaders ] tackel it took 10 to 15 minutes to land one...and 2 minutes later hooking up again!

I've got a D2 Rat7 and it's a razor. I hear Dozier makes a VERY good D2. I may look into that.

Dozier is the man with D2...
However, I'm sure with Mr. Bos doing the heat treat, the Bucks are right up there as well.. Much lower price tag too :D

Nuts! Now I gotta have one. That D2 looks great as well. Thanks for the pictures, Mike.

They had some nice deals at that meeting. The 118 was a bit of an after thought for me. Some guy was saying "118 with D2 steel, only a few left". Out of the 5 I bought at the meeting, the 118 is the one my wife likes the most. It is going on our camping trip in a few weeks. I will see how it holds up. I like the curve in the knife.
