D2

I don't know of a knife where the Swamp has used D2 since the Vex. Its a shame really D2 is a freaking awesome steel.
 
I like D2 also-don't get me wrong, but I would really like to see some satin rats made with Elmax.
 
I'm sure Jerry & the Swamp have some D2 laying around the shop somewhere for a rainy day! Just a matter of time...
 
I wouldn't want it on something much larger than an RMD but a D2 Rodent Solution would be cool.
The only reason I don't want something in Elmax is because imo the Busse shops don't run it hard enough, now if they ran Elmax up to 61-62 HRC give me an RS in that and my hunting knife needs would be set for life.

A D2 Rat Muk would be soooo nice.
 
D2 is my favorite Swamp Rat steel. I have the feeling there's none left, though.
 
I recall the Swamp getting D2 that was laying around from the Old Days when Gerry used it, and it was said their was tons of it. True, it was said that it is not the best for large blades, but the Rat Trap was made from it, and the D2 Bog Dog and I think the Safari Skinner as well. But it seems there should be some left and although one of the reasons it might not be used in the swamp is it is not as tough as SR-101, those knives and others are truly outstanding. I would like to see a fixed blade version of the Rat trap.
 
I do want to remember the Rat Trap was not D2 but 154cm, or some such stainless.

I missed out on the Bog Dog and Dog Skinner both, big time regrets on those.
 
Rat Trap is on S30V, at least the two I held in my hands were.

The Swamp knives in D2 are surprisingly light compared to those in SR-101. They all seem to have thinner stock.

I stand corrected on the D2 Rat Trap, sorry wrong steel. It is an impressive folder though. I did not know they were made by a different company! Sneaky Rats. I have a numbered Trap, I am not sure if the numbered versions were the only ones made, and I do not recollect how many were offered.
