D4/E4 hardware alert for tinkerers....

Myself and a couple of others have recently posted of experiencing overpolished and relatively soft easily burred/stripped screws....and when using quality tools....as an fyi i personally found the kit hardware of much better quality in hardness and recess forming with sharp corners and zero deformation on install, unlike what came out of a legitimate knife...folks at the factory assembling them must have been having all manner of fun, too...

Spyderco has turned off the tap on the D4/E4 repair kits due to fraudulent use of kits......when they are gone, they are gone.

AND the Spyderco warranty center now carries clip screws ONLY.

if you strip out a head or thread, you will soon be on your own as for shopping outside electronic/hobby vendors or robbing hard drives, and you had better be fresh on precise measurement of shank and head length/thickness and metric conversion when going that route...

Keep in mind the assembly method is assumed to be a one-time deal at factory, the increased parts count for rapid changes in models such as handle colors without building entire knives or trashing entire knives to change a color....much easier to ditch the poor selling dung yellow scales than entire knife and much easier to add your Barbie pink scales with sparkles to go with that new wunderstahl run...
but not made or designed for tinkering, and warranty claims will be only other option and we all know what Uncle Spydie sez about tinkering...

Just so you know, what with 85 billion threads advising how easy it is to take apart and go back together.

This info has been posted in other threads but with several others reporting same, it needs to be posted alone where folk might see it.....but not enough will see it, i am sure...
