D6 steel question

Judge from the composition carbon seems to be too high for that amount for alloy. This will likely to be a steel that should be attained at high hardness with load of chromium carbide,

thus the steel should be very high wear resistance but mediocre toughness, low edge stability and probably not so good sharpenability.

Carbon 2.00%
Manganese 0.35%
Silicon 0.35%
Chromium 12.00%
Tungsten 0.75%

It would probably be fairly wear resistant but not in the same class as the vanadium steels, anything S30V class wear or above. It would not be real tough, and who knows about cost. I've never seen any for sale though. There are a bunch of steels that someone would eventually get around to making knives out of if they were more available. By composition I wouldn't expect to see people ordering batches of it for knives.

Farid has used D3 on quite a few knives. I saw some mini tools in D3 too. Nothing else from the D series rings any bells with me knife wise.
