Hi folks, I thought I would share a piece that I wrote about my Dad’s 1967-1972 generation 110. I have other 110’s but this one will always have a place of honor for this reason:

Great story thanks for sharing. My children, a man and a woman now are older than you. I’m 80. I bought 2 110s back in the middle 70s and gave one to my son. He was 10-12 at the time. We hunted together a lot back then, I can’t walk like I used to so our hunting companionship has lessened over time although we remain close friends. We both cleaned game including deer with those knifes and I’m sure he still has his as I do. Here’s mine

Yes I am 52 now, but can still remember packing up my Dad’s old International Scout with a couple of days worth of stuff and heading out to what we called “paper company land” for a weekend of camping/hunting. It seems today most folks are too busy for the camping part, but I enjoyed that as much as the hunting and there were always Buck knives around.

Reminds me of how much I treasure the tools/memories that have been handed down through generations of my family. I believe I would have been a very different person if not for the love of hunting which taught me how important family is in my life. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the nice response guys. I actually joined the forum based on the participation of you “regulars”. I have enjoyed reading and seeing your Buck products for years. To come full circle with this story, I should add that my wife and I got married later in life and were not blessed to have kids of our own. But blessings come in many ways and for several years I have been sort of an outdoors mentor to a young man in our church. When he graduated high school last year I could not think of a more fitting gift than one of the new Buck 110’s with the Taylor ebony scales. Come Saturday we will both take our 110’s to the woods with us. But, his sheath will not have the 50-plus years of honest wear, ha ha:

As mentioned family heirlooms are to be treasured. My favorite Uncle and hunting companion in my early life gave me his Model 12 Winchester 16 ga. shotgun while he was still living some 40+ years ago. I hunted upland game with it until walking became a struggle for me. When I look at it now it brings back fond memories of him and our experiences together. I sometimes tear up.
