STOKED!

My first Becker is en route to me as we speak. I had plans of ordering one from Two Wolves Outdoor, but something came up and took the cash flow I had alotted for said purchase.

My wife saw how bummed I was, went through my favorite distributor of knifecenter.com and got me one for Father's Day and an Anniversary present.

At this moment a brand new Becker BK9 is on its way to yours truly and I'm so effing excited I can barely stand myself. I keep checking the tracking number everyday to see where it is.

I've been a Wilder-nut for many years and an instructor for a few, and have read and heard nothing but GOOD things about Mr. Becker's line--all the way back to the Camillus days.

I feel giddy as a school girl, and out here in the mountains and forests of East KY, I'm sure the BK9 will get a good workout and prove itself.

Congrats on the gift. I hope you enjoy the BK9, and dont forget about the bonus BK13 REMORA! Two gifts in one. I really like the BK9, it is a great chopper. it seems like the light weight lets you chop faster, making up for the loss in mass.

By the way, I know how you feel, I have been checking the tracking on my BK2 twice a day!

Last year, the wife and sons bought me a RAT RC4...possibly the best father's day present ever. This year i am asking for a Wetterlings or Snow & Neally Felling Axe.

KnifeCenter is a great dealer to buy from, really nice dedicated to customer satisfaction people in person and online. I am close enough for local pickup; although I buy wholesale from their distribrutor. Their prices are so close to cost plus shipping that if I want one or two of something I buy from them.

I also like the Ka-Bar Becker knives, great practical "quality" tools at a good price point. I am hoping Ethan Becker will design a folder along the lines of the BK2. The BK2 is a no worry "practical" brute of a knife.

The BK9 should take care of almost any camping survival knife needs.

welcome abord the train wreacker!BK9 look out woods here comes another one!
knifecenter is great,it's because of them I have two BK9's I ordered one and a couple of other things they said the BK9 was on backorder when the box showed up it had a BK9 in it,I was like YES BK9!(must not have been on back order)two days later another box shows up at the house with a BK9 in it.some one messed up! the next day I called knifecenter told them what had happened.and to shorten the story they gave me a sweet deal on that second BK9.a week later I ordered my BK2(becker train wreacker) you will love your BK9 and will go crazy over your BK2 when you order that next!

It is here.
It was dropped off at the shop today. Waiting for UPS once I found out it was coming here was pure agony.
So, feeling like I had recreated the Christmas morning scene from "A Christmas Story" with packing material flying everywhere, I stole me away to my office.
Opening the box was some of the best anticipation I'd been through in a while (I like getting new stuff, but I adore getting new knives).
So here are my first impressions:

Handle: Nowhere near as boxy as the pics made it look, feels right. I can't say that I'm crazy about the handle material (but then again, I've always been a micarta man)--but for some reason it works with this knife. I'm going to give it a chance to go through its paces before I say anything negative (it's an effing KA-BAR made Becker for crying out loud, their beauty is in their performance).

Steel: it's 1095, which is my favorite woodsbumming steel.

Weight: Good weight. Hefty enough to let you know it's in your hand, but light enough that I believe I could use it all day making swamp beds and a-frames.

Blade: good sized blade, hair popping sharp out of the box. I think with a few trips across my oiled, fine ceramic stone to smooth the edge up a little and it'll be a beast (not like it isn't to begin with).

Sheath: nylon with inserts and a nice big pocket for a mini-kit. though I do wish it were fully enclosed instead of just the elastic strap. Isn't anything I can't learn to deal with (read: modify). It holds the knife good and secure (there's some rattling, but that's to be expected. As long as I don't have to worry about it coming out of the sheath as I'm moving around the hills I don't really care)

BK13: Would make a great neck knife or mini-kit knife. It's staying right where it is though. It's sharp, but not sharp enough. A few trips across an extra-fine stone will brighten it up.

Overall: Couple para cord lanyards, a few trips across a good lansky stone, add 1 mini-kit to the pouch and this is one helluva knife.

Mr. Becker, your design is excellent. Keep up the good work.

I didn't post pictures because you know what they look like, but I will post them when it goes outside to "play".

Congratulations, KEmSAT-Survival, on your BK-9. Now you need the BK-2, just to become a well rounded individual.

So...what do you think about it? any pics of working with it yet?

One tip, tighten the bolts before you use it hard. I had to tighten the bolts on my BK7 after the apple limb, but then on another Becker I tightened them a turn to a turn and a quarter out of the box. Just don't over torque them.
