Hey all! The story begins years ago when one of my best friends father came up to hunt with us boys in northern MI. It was a big deal for my buddy and we rolled out the red carpet for his pops. Eugene, my friends dad hunted from my permanent blind and shot a nice little buck on day two. He dressed the deer out and went up to the blind to gather up his gear when all of us showed up to assist knowing he had shot. We got the deer out and all was good till Eugene went to clean the deer up a bit more for the trip home in the morning. That is when he realized he had left his knife in the woods. Well, we altered our plans and went out to where the deer had been shot before leaving and my two long time friends as well as Eugene searched for the knife. No luck. I had said that I'll check the blind but Eugene said no need, he was sure he left the knife near the deer. We never found the Case knife. Eugene passed away the next summer. I often would see Roger in that area during the next 18 or so years looking for that Case knife.
That brings us to this past weekend. I was up north preping for next weeks opening day. I ended up in my blind and decided to do a bit of cleanup. Using my boot, I scrapped at the years of leaves and twigs and what not that had blown in through the windows so I could dump a bag of cedar chips for a fresh base to stand on for the next few years. I suppose you know now what I found in all that debris when I was pitching it out by hand. Yep! Eugene"s Case knife. I was so overwhelmed I was beside myself for a moment. I just sat there and stared down the ridge where I remember the little buck lying and saw the whole ordeal in my head as to how the knife ended up in the blind. Well the knife is a Case swing guard that Eugene had removed the guard because he did not care for it. It's a (6111 1/2 L) I brought it home and touched it up in a buffer lightly to get the big chunks off. I want to give back to Roger but I want him to be able to use it. All it needs is the blade pivot pin replaced and I think it will go on for years. The lock works fine and the blade didn't need much to sharpen up. I would like to know if Case would do this repair for me or should I find someone else. I may just present it to Roger while out in the woods this season. But I would still like to have an idea as to where I could have it repaired. Thanks for listening.... ~baba~

I don't know if Case would repair it because the knife has been altered.
Even if they would, they would probably charge to do it because of this.

There is a guy that hangs out in the Schrade s/f, IIRC he goes by Orvet.
He does slip joint repairs and people seem very happy with his work.

Thank you for the response. I will look into that..
