Hi Everyone!
Here is the special project I was thinking about posting before the Blade Show. I will have it on display on my table at 22-Q. This knife belongs to a fellow Forumite and I'll let him chime in here if he likes.
This knife has a lot of first time things for me such as my first dagger, the longest blade I've made to date (I am currently working on a longer blade) first damascus D-Guard, first blade collar and first time I've done a fluted handle with wire inlay. The 13" blade on this dagger is forged from 1080 and
15n20 in "W" Ladder Pattern Damascus. The overall length is 18 3/4" long. The handle is interior mammoth ivory, the twisted wire inlay in the handle and the collar on the ricasso are argentium silver. There are salt-blued spacers at the front and back of the handle that have coined and anodized titanium liners around them.
I wanted to make a unique dagger and what started this D-Guard concept was seeing the recent Cut-N-Shoot D-Guard Dagger made by Ron Newton. I was also greatly influenced by 1700s-1800s English and French Court Swords in how I've made a large round pommel that the D-Guard dives into.
I would like to give special thanks to Ron Newton for all the great information he gave me. I would also like to thank my brother, Caleb for the great picture!
Let me know what you think.
