Hi Everyone!

Here is the special project I was thinking about posting before the Blade Show. I will have it on display on my table at 22-Q. This knife belongs to a fellow Forumite and I'll let him chime in here if he likes.

This knife has a lot of first time things for me such as my first dagger, the longest blade I've made to date (I am currently working on a longer blade) first damascus D-Guard, first blade collar and first time I've done a fluted handle with wire inlay. The 13" blade on this dagger is forged from 1080 and
15n20 in "W" Ladder Pattern Damascus. The overall length is 18 3/4" long. The handle is interior mammoth ivory, the twisted wire inlay in the handle and the collar on the ricasso are argentium silver. There are salt-blued spacers at the front and back of the handle that have coined and anodized titanium liners around them.

I wanted to make a unique dagger and what started this D-Guard concept was seeing the recent Cut-N-Shoot D-Guard Dagger made by Ron Newton. I was also greatly influenced by 1700s-1800s English and French Court Swords in how I've made a large round pommel that the D-Guard dives into.

I would like to give special thanks to Ron Newton for all the great information he gave me. I would also like to thank my brother, Caleb for the great picture!

Let me know what you think.

I think that's one of the most spectacular daggers I've ever seen. That's what I think,(and I'm sticking to it.)

HOLY SMOKES! You knocked that one out of the park! Kyle, it's absolutely beautiful. It's seems like each knife I see of yours gets better and more amazing. How thats possible I don't know. All I can say is,"keep knockin' em out of the park".

The best flutet handle I've ever seen. Wow and Concrats:thumbup:
I want to do this in the future, too.

Greatings from Germany

Kyle that is Fantastic!! Got to agree with Mike, your craftsmanship just keeps getting better, I just don't know how you do it. Evertime I see one of your pieces I think how can you make something better and you just go and do it!!! If practice makes perfect by the time you get to making mine in Sept 2011, God only knows what you will produce.

Oh man, that is absolutely incredible Kyle, just incredible.

I'm glad I got to see the pic now, and I hope to get to see it in person at the show. Stunning...

That is truely incredible! Looks like #100! Very good photo's too!

Amazing piece of art. I know the owner is real pleased with it....and no that is not me.

Marcel

that is crazy.
:eek::thumbup:

Another amazing example of Kyle's great skill, and determination to make one outstanding knife after another.

And Caleb's photograph makes every detail reach out and grab you.

A stunningly beautiful and unique piece. I can't say as I've seen many D-guard quillion daggers. I'm guessing you'll be able to manage your MS test dagger quite handily. :) Great work.

Roger

Kyle this dagger is so well executed one would think you have been making them for years. I really like the uniqueness of the D-Guard/Quillion. Very well done!

Congratulations, Jon

Kyle,

Not only is your workmanship outstanding but your design on this is to be congratulated! I agree with John in that it is one of the best daggers that I have seen. Thanks for sharing.

Gary

Very nice!! The first words out of my mouth were much the same as Erik's...holy S&^T!!
I would not have thought a D guard would go nicely on a dagger, but you knocked it out of the park. Great job

Wow, thats incredible!! The owners gonna be rolling around on the floor with that for a while. Kyle, can't wait to see this in person.

Like others mentioned, that knife really shows off the clarity that Calebs getting. Impressive all around.
