Hey guys I am really liking the looks of the Zero Tolerance boot dagger. However double edged blades I believe are illegal in Indiana. So I am looking for a knife that would be legal in Indiana/Michigan. I am not real sure how serious of a charge a double edged knife is though either. Thanks in advance.

I've tried 3 lately, the cold steel counter tac 1 and 2 and the boker steel mariner, I'd recommend both the cold steel knives over a zero tolerance due to the fact if you have it concealed you wouldnt need to un snap it before you pull it out, the quality is good too. you can adjust the tightness of the sheiths with a hair dryer. but for a single edged I went with the boker great knight, its like a 20 knife but its 420 and reliable for what it is, Its just for whats its designed for, I wouldnt try to baton wood with it

I don't understand. If a dagger is illegal, in your state, you're not going to find a legal dagger. A dagger, by definition, has two edges. That's that :-( did you mean you're trying to find a knife that looks just like a dagger, but is actually single edged? As far as "how serious" well... look at it like this - find out if it's a felony or a misdemeanor. If it's a misdemeanor, getting caught with it wouldn't be a life crushing experience, but (on top of everythingelse) you'd lose the knife. That would prolly pale compared to the grand or two in fines and cost of probation, but u could still own guns (after probation), vote, etc. Now, if its a felony, very big deal. Also, even of it's a misdemeanor, it could swing a jury around in what would've been a justified self defense case to you being a predator armed with an illegal weapon. Just food for thought.

A dagger is a double edged knife, so lets put the issue of legality aside and just discuss the available daggers on the market.

I recently got the Fox Bellum dagger. It is a pure stiletto and only good for stabbing attacks, the blade geometry and sides are at such an obtuse angle as to be unsharpenable.

Other than that, you have the offerings from Gerber, Boker, and SOG, none of which I particularly care for. Ka-Bar has one called the "Union Pig Sticker". Falkniven has one called the "mine clearing knife", a very long double edged VG-10 blade but the handle is of polymer and it seems a bit over priced. Extrema ratio has some. MercWorx also has one called the Shiva you can get in either s30v or 154CM steel with a micarta handle. I have not heard much about the Shiva, perhaps someone can order it and give a review.

Hmm. Thanks for the suggestions guys. I did mean a dagger like blade but single edged. I will surf around.

Cold Steel Brave Heart is single edged.

Note that a "dagger shaped knife" might be perceived as a "dagger" by LEO/judge, unless it's actually defined in state code. YMMV.

Thanks ohshoot. My intentions are to look for a fight or anything like that I just want to clarify that. I just didn't want to tote a dagger around and end up getting arrested simply for carrying it. I wasn't meaning stabbing someone with it haha.

I have the Fallkniven G1 Garm and I believe it to be a good small dagger. It's composed of vg-10 and mine came with even grind lines. It balances well in your hand.

I can't compare it to the ZT 0150 yet (though that is a more aesthetically appealing blade) but I hope to have one soon.
