I would love to see the USMC KABAR but with dagger blade. Same width and thickness as the reg blade but in a dagger shape. We have the tanto.

I would like to see the WW I trench knife ie the double edge blade in 1095 with brass knuckles for a handle. I have no use for one except the cool factor.

Also Boker makes a german trench knife from WW I. I would like to see one of those in 1095 just like boker makes but under the $145.00 price tag Boker askes for. I will probablt pop for the Boker it looks like a nice knife.

I like the concept Brother Caine. I think it would be a hit.

I wouldn't expect to see a Trench Knife on the horizon too soon. They were great for the period they were created, but society won't look kindly on a knife made like that.

I talk about it often with my friends, about how society's views can change. Look at it like this, in WWI, our guys were fighting in a closet (so to speak), so, a weapon that could stab/cut was good to have. The designers went two more better, if the blade breaks off in the enemy (which they did, quite often with the Trench), then you had a set of heavy brass knuckles to beat and bash with. On the bottom of that, you had a 1" (the replicas are shortened) steel spike that could poke a hole in the skull in one shot. Beat'em, bash'em, stab'em, just get the bad guy dead or out of the fight. That's what we gave our guys back in the Great War.

I like the dagger idea, can someone give us a photo chop to see what it would look like.?

I know the knuckle duster knife is not realistic but I am a history buff and would like to have an original but that is $$$$ so a quality reproduction would be nice. In reality I have read where they really were not as good for close combat as people today think, that is why they went to something else in WW II ie the Ka-Bar. The German trench knife was supposed to be an exellant killing knife however. Like I said I will probably pop for the Boker. It is supposed to be an exact knife of the WW I knife including the C75 steel similar to 1075.

Saying all of that how about a Ba-bar dagger replica of the WWII sykes knife carried by the OSS in WW II? Man my want list is way way to long.

Babar is an elephant. Fairbairn Sykes are beautiful knives, I own an original passed down by my grandfather, and it could definitely still accomplish the task it was designed for.

I have copy of the FS dagger. Its one of the cheapies, but I can see the allure.

One with a leather handle, better steel and a good HT? I'll buy a couple.

Moose - I might try to chop you one tonight sometime, though I make no promises (school started yesterday). You want a straight up dagger (straight from the guard to the point no blank space), or something different?

I also just got news that my dog back home is dying, so that might change things as well :(.

That sounds good to me.

I hate to hear about your compadre. Its hard to lose good friends.

Here you go guys. I did a spear point dagger, because that was what I think of when I think of a dagger. I also left a bit of the fuller in there, just because its a kabar :).

It looks like you might have been thinking of another type of dagger, and I might take a stab at that other design posted later on, once again, no promises.

CHOPPED!

hmm... Maybe I'll try one later. Apparently I don't think of the same thing as other people when I think of daggers...

Here's a pattern 2 style FS blade...

Should be long and slim enough to fit between ribs, and access the lungs, heart, carotid etc from the back, under, or over the ribcage. If it's too pointy, you lose a good bit of strength when thrusting. Think of a 15 degree edge grind for a chopper...

*Yes I know the crossguard has been turned up on the sides...unfortunately done before it got into my hands.

Yea, sorry guys it just looks like its going to take a bit too much time for me right now :(.

Thanks for the education on daggers though (what is an "FS" patter dagger?), I did the last one in a hurry in between classes and it shows :(. When you're all zoomed in at like 400% working on stuff, you don't realize as much that the whole shape looks a bit off...

Maybe warrior can whip one up for you guys, I hear he's pretty l33t on the photochops :).

And here is the v42 dagger

Yea lots of stuff I would like to have. So many knives so little money

I really like the CS Tai Pan blade shape. Never been a big fan of those little needle points. Way too bendy, and a spear point will do just as well at penetration, and it won't ruin itself if you catch on a rib. Definitely wouldn't mind seeing a Ka-Bar dagger though.

It would be interesting to see Kabar's modern interpretation of the Shanghai Fighting Dagger... The origin of the Fairbairn Sykes dagger. The FS dagger is still the symbol of the British Royal Marines, and symbolizes their use of commando and stealth tactics.

If you're going to do it, do it all the way. 12 inch blade 1/4 inch thick. Something like this.
