Daggers

Solid 3-V integral. Blade is .250'' thick, 8'' long. I think it's a very attractive, no-nonsense dagger, and considering the thickness of the billet and the custom touches (solid Titanium cap, custom sheath, hand grind by maker) I also think it had a pretty good value at ~$725.

Never seen this one before, very nice example, thanks to you and also thanks to all other participating people here in future posts.

I remain a long time fan of the Mark II. This version with the two tone handles and non-serrated wasp blade is my favorite:

The Kershaw Trooper Model 1007. Made by Ichiro Hattori from 1978 until 2008, the only Kershaw knife to be serial numbered on every
one made. Aus8A Double Edged Blade of 5 1/4". Overall length of 9 3/8". Stainless Steel guard and pommel.Close grained ebony handle.
Originally available as just knife and sheath, they were later offered in a presentation case that included a COA signed by Pete Kershaw
until 1998 the yearthat he retired. COAs after that did not have his signature. During the 1980s a special edition with carved ivory handle was also offered. Mine is from January 1991

Very cool. Reminds me of a Chris Reeve MK IV. Who is the maker and model?

I like Daggers so much I tried to make one.:D

Some big, some small. Some kinda expensive, some not at all. Wait a minute, did that sound like a Dr Seuss book?

Anyway, these are my daggers as of right now. I have had a couple of them for a really long time and they show it. There are two here that were bought as souvenirs while at an event or on vacation. The Cold Steel daggers here are definitely the sharpest. I guess I dont really have anything very fancy though.

Quick question. Did you get this from JT's knife shop in Port Jervis?

I find daggers highly impractical for EDC. They lend themselves well to only one task. For general EDC, I prefer a modified clip point bowie. That being said, daggers are sexy looking.

I've made a few or a few...

I don't really care for them as they are really only good for one thing. That being said my favorite and one I would like to own is the Cold Steel Tai Pan. Pics don't do it justice, when you pick it up its immediate want!!

How much is this dagger worth these days? Talking of estimated price...

A wild guess would be maybe around $250. Hard to give a simple answer because they were made over a span of 30 years and wih each one serial numbered it's easy to determine age. Naturally the older ones command higher prices than the relatively newer ones. But of course whether it has just sheath or presentation case and papers, used or unused condition all has an effect. I think the lowest I've seen is like $150 and the highest $350. The very very earliest ones had no blood groove and those might be worth much more than that as they are quite rare.

I agree the CS Tai Pan is an under-noticed masterpiece. Perhaps the only one offered in a laminated blade. The only reason I don't
have one is that the 7 1/2" dagger blade is too "lethally scary" for me.LOL

I'm also surprised that no one has brought up the Gerber MK II. Made between 1967-2000 they were sought after
in the Vietnam theater. And who can forget the Black Mark II used by "Bishop" in Aliens II??
They went back into propdution after 2008.

Su-weet ! My kind of knife. So glad to see your leather work ends up looking just like some of mine. Did you roll-press that lace after it was on or just wrap it only?

Good job.
