I'm looking for a fixed blade dagger for under $100. So far in set on the Gerber MkII for $78. What do you recommend?

That's a fine place to start as any,
For a collection.
If you intend on use
Try looking for something with a wider blade.
Like the cs taipan.
But i understand that taste are varied
And pockets are shallow at times...
Go with your gut.

Had an old Vietnam era Gerber Mark II, really liked it. I sold it to get a Boker Applegate Fairbairn dagger, which I also enjoyed, but wish I would have kept the Mark II.

What blade length are you looking for?
You can pick up a SOG Pentagon for like $59.00

Depending on what you plan to do with it, I always found the Gerber Mark I a better fit then the Mark II. The II was to long to be useful for many tasks imho. You can still find a Mark I on ebay for under $100.

Cold Steel Counter Tac I /II. I have one I keep on a set of boots. Not really a fan of a dagger for edc tasks so it don't see the light very often.

My favorite dagger design is the Fairbairn Sykes Pattern 2. Macdonald Armory in Scotland and Parkinson Knives are probably the best makers but you'd have to pay around $500USD new or $250USD used.

There is a company in England called Sheffield Knives, that makes the 3rd Pattern with the thin blade for about $60USD, but I wouldn't recommend it. http://www.sheffieldknives.co.uk/

The Gerber Mk2 is a fine choice. Admittedly, I do not have the modern version, but my 1981 Narrow Wasp is great (Mine has no serrations, which I prefer). You can find older Mk2s fairly cheap.

Another great choice is the EK Mk4/F-S Mk2. These can be had for about $150-$250USD Used. These are the sharpest knives I have ever seen and excellently made (I have a Virginia made model; Ka-Bar just bought them and will be relaunching the line in Summer 2015 from what I hear.)

Not a bad choice for the price if you just have to have a dagger. For a bit more the Boker Applegate-Fairbairn or the Cold steel Peace Keeper are excellent, too. Not sure what you're wanting it for or looking for in a dagger, but I'll also give the Ontario M3 honorable mention for being dagger-ish, well made, & pretty affordable.

If you don't mind a somewhat longer blade (8 1/4) Cold Steel OSS is a massive bargain, IMHO. While not technically a dagger (has a shallow clip point) it is narrow , and sharp on both edges, so is a dagger in effect. Cold Steel also makes a much smaller Skean Dhu, called Brave heart, that is extremely flat and concealable, but has a 4" blade, which is long for what's ,basically, a neck knife. Either can be found on ebay/Amazon for less than 60 bucks. I have both and they are dependable and high quality. I don't know where you live but, hopefully, you know that in many, if not most places, these knives will get your ass arrested in a NY minute, even if not concealed, so be advised.
