I ordered a khuk from the 5-12-09 listing and it arrived at my house on 5-14-09. This is absolutely fantastic service from Himalayan Imports. This is my third khuk from the daily special posts since I've been on BF. Each time the knife was great and arrived quickly. Granted Himalayan Imports is located in the state right next to mine, but still the quick turn around is a refreshing change from the typical 7-10 business day wait with most e-commerce transactions. Also, I don't think I've ever paid more than $45 for a daily special. I have 3 awesome handmade knives for less than the cost of what one of the black coated tactical deanimators go for.

Thank you Himalayan Imports.

+1

Hell, I live across the country and the only time it took more than 2 days was because I ordered the day before a holiday weekend.

Steve, congrats on your latest aquisition. Which knife did you get? I'm waiting for my Horn handled JKM-1 to arive from Tuesdays sales. :_)

What a lot of people don't know is that Yangdu has a degree in quantum mechanics. Partnering with USPS and dabbling in worm holes and string theory, she manages to get the khuk you want to your state BEFORE you order it...USPS just sits on the package for a couple days so that other shipping businesses can at least attempt to stay competitive:p:D

Man, am I ever glad you finally explained it.

It's been driving me nuts for years trying to figure it out!:D

2 to 3 days is the average arrival time for me too, and I'm in Ohio.

Eventually Ms Yangdu will be sending us khukuris from the future.

I can see it now. A triangle box arrives, inside is khukuri and note from Ms Yangdu.

"This is from the DOTD in two days, payment whenever."

Mrs. Yangdu managed to get an M-43 and a purse from Reno to Nashville in 2 days... During the Christmas season!!

Figure THAT one out........

IMO The Postal Service does pretty well. When ever I have the option of having something shipped through them or a competetor I choose USPS. And I think they did a really good job last holiday season.

Though I think there might be a jelious Postal clerk some where between Yangdu and me because 70% of the time I have something coming from her the package takes a week. LOL!!!

I'm going with the wormhole theory.

Otherwise how can something from Reno get to Florida in two days, but a package shipped Priority takes 3 days (from confirmed shipped date via tracking number) from GEORGIA!!

LOL

I don't even look at the DOTD's any more...I just sit in the back yard meditating, burning incense and visualizing the khuk I want and somehow it appears here and my Holly sharks it:)...

...that might have been a dream;)

No kidding though, we're clear across the country and HI packages arrive just as we finish typing the e-mail.

:D

I know for sure my post office does this. There has been many complaints of them skipping our neighborhood some days(we get our mail anywhere from 10am-8pm, its never the same). I ordered mine last Tuesday and she said they would be sent out Wednesday, and i'm sure they were. Past orders had showed up in three days, so I'm kind of worried. If they ended up at the wrong house, it probably wouldn't get returned given the nature of people in this area :(. The thought of someone else enjoying my Tarwar and Ganga Ram makes me sick to my stomach:barf:. Hopefully they will be on my doorstep when I get home:crossesfingers:. In the end I'd actually pay extra to have it shipped via UPS, they've always been good to me.

My experience is just the opposite. I don't own a car, so driving 8 miles away to the UPS Distribution Center to pick up my package, after they miss me at home (which they invariably do), simply isn't feasible. On the other hand, the Post Office is just a 5-minute bicycle ride. That fact, alone, makes me prefer USPS to a delivery service, every time.

Yeah, I live in town so either way its not too big a deal. Its just some of the other problems I've had with missing or ruined packages from the USPS. And the fact that my neighborhood is the closest to the USPS hub and gets the worst/last or not at all service. Its like they all play rock, paper, scissors to see who gets our neighborhood and when they do it:). I'm sure I'll have it on my doorstep when I get home. I just wanted over the weekend to do some yardwork :grumpy:.

Looks like I may have to eat some crow on behalf of the USPS.

I ordered a Ganga Ram from the dotd on Tuesday along with a tarwar. On Thursday I ordered a Chitlangi and Jkm from the Dotd
(yes I have the fever, BAD) and today the shipment from Thursday showed up. It turns out the Thurs order shipped Via USPS and the Tues order shipped via UPS (I'm guessing because the Tarwar needs a bigger box?). So here I am cursing the USPS and other people that could have stole it from my mailbox and wondering why one package shows up when the other one hasn't. It seems the USPS has a leg up on the UPS this round :embarassed:. I do feel a lot better now though, I was really starting to worry.
