Here's a fun project for ya -
Dale Reif and I get together at a show and decide to work up a new knife. Our starting point: Tiger Coral.
Being the bastid I am, I insist on a design that he's never worked before. We noodle a bit, and my wife tosses out the idea of a garter dagger. I didn't have one, Dale had never made one. Off to the races we go...
Needless to say, Dale came through in spades (I think hearts might actually be more appropriate for the project, but...). The result, a double edged garter dagger, 3.5" BG-42 hand-rubbed symmetrical blade, 7.125" OAL, fileworked finger grooves in the choil, bolsterless, with a fluted tiger coral handle. Paired with my fluted oosic show winning folder, we now have the ultimate in his-hers knife sets! Dale tapped Gary Bradburn to do a snakeskin garter sheath, another participant's first ever, and another bulls-eye!
With his typical humility, Dale sent me this photo of the knife to see if I still wanted it:

No, Dale. It's awful.
Can't fault poor Dale, though. Whenever I push a maker into a spot he's never been to before, there's some hesitance. Needless to say, I told Dale it was OK to send it home!
Here's a photo of the knife being worn by my "Victoria's Secret" model:

Victoria's secret is that she's Mrs. Turner. E-mail can be addressed to Mr. Turner, who will be wearing his 18" Jerry Hossom Duelist, black belt, and a leash leading to 120 lbs. of Lothar the Wonder Dog. Be sure to include a return address.
